The Met

Today for lunch we went to the Fay Da Bakery around the corner (again). They have a lot of different kinds of (weird) breads. It's really cheap and the buns are huge and they all look delicious. I tried the sweet potato bun and it was amazing...Pat tried the pork bun and it was so-so (it tasted pretty much like it looks...like someone stuck some jerky chew onto a sweet bun)...
Later in the evening, Me, Pat and Sam, a girl that also lives in the New Yorker, braved the crappy weather to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The museum is kind of sketchy on whether or not you have to pay to get in. There are numerous "ticket booths" where you must "purchase" your ticket with signs that explain "admission prices": $20 for adults, $10 for students. Then in really small text it says suggested price. So since we're all unpaid interns we sheepishly handed over $5 and walked in...
The museum is enormous and we saw probably 1/5 of the exhibits before our feet started to hurt and we left to find hot chocolate. My favorite exhibit was their Egyptian Art exhibit which was massive...They had an enormous stone sarcophagus...A statue that looks like Jerry...They call it a mullet these days...The next exhibit over is Asian Art where Buddha statues abound...
The museum had a cool exhibit that featured only unique instruments. This is a bass clarinet bordering on dangerously funky...Guitar back with wooden inlays...Close-up of a guitar's soundhole with super intricate, three-dimensional woodwork inside of it...A super fancy piano that amazed me...Until I saw this ridiculously fancy harpsichord...
A close-up of said ridiculous harpsichord...Another exhibit was American Decorative Arts with furniture, clocks and gravy boats from the last few centuries including this cool fish-eye mirror...Of course, there are paintings at the museum too, like this famous El Greco painting View of Toledo...The last exhibit we saw was Arms and Armor...
This knight was particularly hilarious...In conclusion, the museum was amazing, but not as amazing as the sweet potato bun I had earlier in the day.

Buck, your roll looks weird. That museum is awesome and huge. I only remember looking a lot of paintings. We had about 10 inches of snow so we stayed in this weekend and watched House. Could you guys send me your address? Good luck tomorrow, Lauren. be happy and safe. Love and miss you, Mom
